Abstract In this paper we investigate the gravitational frequency-shift and deflection of light in the Schwarzschild black hole space-time surrounded by quintessence. With the analytical and numerical methods, we find that the gravitational frequency-shift of light in the Schwarzschild black hole space-time surrounded by the quintessence increases as the values of the normalization factor $c$ increases, but the gravitational frequency-shift of light decreases with the quintessential state parameter $ \omega_{\rm q}$ increasing. We also calculate the deflection of light by quintessence and find that the deflection rate decreases as the values of the quintessential parameters $c$ and $ \omega_{\rm q}$ increase.

Altmetric calculates a score based on the online attention an article receives. Each coloured thread in the circle represents a different type of online attention. The number in the centre is the Altmetric score. Social media and mainstream news media are the main sources that calculate the score. Reference managers such as Mendeley are also tracked but do not contribute to the score. Older articles often score higher because they have had more time to get noticed. To account for this, Altmetric has included the context data for other articles of a similar age.
