Abstract The time-domain ABCD matrix formalism is based on the propagation of a Gaussian pulse which is characterized by the pulsewidth and chirp. In this paper, the time-domain ABCD matrix of th SPM (self phase modulation) is perfected so as to acquire more information. With the time-domain ABCD matrices of amplitude modulation, filtration from the optical bandpass, group velocity dispersion and SPM, the detailed characteristics of actively mode-locked fiber laser are described and the steady-state solutions are derived for two simple cases. The application of the formalism is also helpful to understand the mechanism of mode-locking in an actively mode-locked fiber laser.

Altmetric calculates a score based on the online attention an article receives. Each coloured thread in the circle represents a different type of online attention. The number in the centre is the Altmetric score. Social media and mainstream news media are the main sources that calculate the score. Reference managers such as Mendeley are also tracked but do not contribute to the score. Older articles often score higher because they have had more time to get noticed. To account for this, Altmetric has included the context data for other articles of a similar age.
