Abstract The uncoupled basis set is used to describe the interaction between the ultrashort pulses and the Na atom. Several polarization configurations of laser pulses have been investigated, which produce different effects on the two-step photoexcitation process. The study shows that the final states of the transitions driven by ultrashort laser pulses have a strong dependence on the laser polarization configuration. A comparison of the two different basis sets shows that the uncoupled basis set may provide more information than the coupled basis set, such as angular distribution of the atom in the final states of the transitions.

Altmetric calculates a score based on the online attention an article receives. Each coloured thread in the circle represents a different type of online attention. The number in the centre is the Altmetric score. Social media and mainstream news media are the main sources that calculate the score. Reference managers such as Mendeley are also tracked but do not contribute to the score. Older articles often score higher because they have had more time to get noticed. To account for this, Altmetric has included the context data for other articles of a similar age.
