Quasi-periodic noise-like pulse mode locking in a fiber laser

Abstract
Noise-like pulse (NLP) mode locking is generally thought to be stochastic. Here, we numerically find that NLP can exhibit quasi-periodicity, which can be controlled by the bandwidth of a spectral filter. The period can change from 250 to 2500 cavity round trips by tuning the bandwidth. Standard NLP without periodicity is also found by increasing the filter bandwidth. -
