Diameter of the silica object is 4000 nm and time averaged force has been calculated on the silica object using Eq. (1). The width of the hypothetical short background of air is 2 nm for 2D case and 5 nm for 3D case. The dash line represents the integration boundary. Time averaged optical force is found always pushing when the long background is water (a) for 2D case and (b) for 3D case.
