(color online) Schematic view of an SPP nanolaser with an SIM structure. The well-confined field profile and high momentum of the SPP can couple with the exciton inside the semiconductor. The guided SPP mode can couple to the photon mode at the edge of the nanowire, where the continuum of dielectric condition is broken.
