Comparison of impact between (a) a superhydrophobic sphere (Ts = 30 °C, Tw = 30 °C) and (b) a heated sphere (Ts = 400 °C, Tw = 95 °C) onto water at time t = 6, 23.6, 43, 53.6, 67.2, and 72.2 ms from impact, with an advance contact angle of about 170° and receding contact angle close to 160°. The impact velocities are both V0 = 1.2 m/s.
