Schematic layout of the experimental setup, which consists of a matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization timeof- flight mass spectrometer (MALDI-TOF MS) and a superconducting strip ion detector (SSID) with a parallel configuration. The equivalent circuit of the previous SSID ion detection scheme is shown on the right, where I b is the bias current and V load is the output voltage across the load resistor R load of 50 Ω.
