Irradiation effects of graphene and thin layer graphite induced by swift heavy ions

STM images of HOPG irradiated by 578-MeV Bi with a fluence of 2.6×10¹² ions/cm². The scan areas are (a) 15 nm×15 nm and (b) 10.2 nm×10.2 nm.
