The time series of absorption images of the first oscillation cycle for initial average peak coupling strength r 0 = 1. The two groups of the cold atoms were confined in one dimension and initially separated by grating pulses. They evolved from time to time and collided twice in the centre of the harmonic 1D trap in each full cycle. The oscillations in 1D Bose gas last for a long time, even without approaching equilibrium.[ 70 ]
