The intercylinder free energy difference of two pure cylinders (a) and two Janus cylinders (b) as a function of surface-to-surface distance between the two cylinders for rescaled membrane tension σ ̃ = 0.1. The rescaled adhesion energy per unit area of pure cylinder and the lower part of Janus cylinder is 1.0, 1.069, 1.1, and 1.3 respectively from top to bottom. The rescaled adhesion energies per unit area for the upper half of Janus cylinder are all zero.
