Typical AFM images and AFM line scans across the Cu islands on the oil surfaces. Each image has a size of 1.65 μm×1.65 μm. Panels (a) and (b) are the AFM images for t = 0 and 120 min, respectively. Panels (c) and (d) are the Cu granule size distributions corresponding to panels (a) and (b), respectively. Panels (e) and (f) are the profiles along the lines in panels (a) and (b), respectively. The white circle denotes the aggregation of the Cu granules and the black circle indicates the loose microstructure of the Cu branched islands.
